My sister, Cheyenne Olson, owns a piano studio in Utah and is finishing up her first volume of Piano Poetry where she gives musical voice to 15 of my poems from Hope Gives a Eulogy.

Part of Cheyenne’s piano project meant I got to write about and share some more of my heart and what was going on behind-the-scenes that gave inspiration to those 15 poems.

If you own Hope Gives a Eulogy, then you know I begin the book with a short introduction (which my editor encouraged as it had none to begin with!), no page numbers, no links to my blog or socials, and a quick post script at the end. All of this was intentional to that body of work, but my sister’s piano + poetry project has given me the opportunity to go back to those days (and that journal of heartache) and expound on some of those poems and share more of the personal story in Hope Gives a Eulogy.

Cheyenne’s ear for the emotional sound of these 15 poems is beautiful and gives more depth and feeling to the poetry. I am excited to share more details with you as they come! Piano Poetry Volume 1 will include 15 poems from Hope Gives a Eulogy set to music, the why behind choosing particular sounds + notes, the chance for you to play the music yourself + experiment & get inspired, and also read more behind the scenes of each poem itself (which is my small part in the project!).
