Where to begin?

Which is the question in this season of life as there is so much going on. One thing I will say about life in your 30s is that I love how rooted I am in my current life season and how IN IT I feel.♥️

Speaking of 30s, at the time I’m posting this I am nearly 31 weeks pregnant with our 4th baby, a boy! We are in the homestretch, although I really feel like it’s the homestretch when I hit 35 weeks! This pregnancy has been easier than my last, but I have still found myself going in for iron transfusions and being sick in the 3rd trimester. So, easier, but not easy.😆

Between all my responsibilities and writing more for my Green Fables series, I did a lot of reading this summer. My top two reads were The Four Feathers by A.E.W. Mason and Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery.

My first baby turned SIX! And I made dreams come true with a knights, dragons, and pirate-themed cake!! I love an outrageous cake and will be bummed when my kids no longer ask for all the things.

It was also our best flower year in the garden yet! I made a good number of full-sized bouquets. And most every one made it to a friend’s porch or to a friend’s hand at church.

I had to fix this bouquet at church because the sunflower was too big for all the other flowers…as you can see! But we got it done & it looked good. Promise!

This was a special bouquet to gift. For months, I planned that my first sunflower bloom would got to a dear friend who’s wife passed away last year. His wife loved sunflowers. Flowers are such a balm to the heart & soul earth-side, and I can just imagine she is enjoying everlasting sunflowers in heaven with her Savior!

This bouquet in a pickle jar was set on my neighbor’s porch who SAVED MY LIFE in the spring when she picked up dill pickles from the store and delivered them by hand. Some of those pickles from this very jar helped me SURVIVE. Yes, I am using ALL-CAPS because when you’re in the early weeks of pregnancy, it is that SERIOUS. I was so sick and the pickles curbed some of that nausea.

Also, this has been the basket for flower cuttings (pictured below). My son rescued this “beautiful basket” from a garbage can and gave it to me. It is a prized possession!

It’s been a lean sunflower harvest this year, but I did get one of the most stunning blooms ever, and I’m getting a steady trickle of blooms regardless. Sunflowers are my favorite flower of all. For now, anyway.😊

Apart from flowers and reading and my daycare job and a busy camp summer season and my kids and birthday cake, I have been writing a lot. I am part of my sister’s poetry project which I’ve written about here, but below is another sneak peek!

And I have also completed my third and final novelette for 2026 in my Garden of Green Fables series. I will reveal the title + synopsis soon, but it will launch late September and end near my baby’s due date!

It has been quite the summer at Green Fables. I am so looking forward to autumn and the slower days to come! I am already saving gift ideas to Christmas lists and plotting my one fall candle purchase of the season. I am waiting for just the right one!
