Either way, you’re here. And there is a lot to explore since I have been blogging in this space since 2012! I have changed so much over that time and I hope (and believe) the change has been for the better. But you are still likely to find a very old post that I may or may not find embarrassing these days, heheee.

To help you navigate this ole blog (now that blogs are a bit out of fashion!!), I wanted to share a guide to your free downloads. It’s hard to know where to begin! So, let’s fix that.

In 2019, I published my first poetry book, Hope Gives a Eulogy. A collection of 96 poems which explores how infertility impacts faith, friendship, marriage, and womanhood. The poetry in this book is primarily short and straightforward. It’s definitely raw, but it’s also filled with hope.

A woman finds herself a skeleton after life-altering grief. As light fills the space between bone and as skin grows back thin and vulnerable, she will step over the threshold of her life, threatened only by the fear that creeps close behind. Told in 20 emotional and intimate poems.

The poetry books to follow Hope Gives a Eulogy are Swan Song of a Scarecrow and Carol of the Mourning Dove. These books contain longer-form poetry, more story-focused, but also personal and hope-filled. Swan Song of a Scarecrow is my story of pregnancy and early motherhood and finding I am just as safe to rejoice with God as I am to grieve with Him.

In Carol of the Mourning Dove, I make sense of innermost stories from my past and present and invite you into the poetry of my heart and the lyrics I would give the Mourning Dove as I holds on tight to my Lord and Refuge with an often weak, but staunch white-knuckle grasp.

The poems in Carol of the Mourning Dove are less about infertility or motherhood (although you will find poems referring to both in this book) and more about my personal Christian faith + the grief and growing pains I faced in my late-twenties while also being waist-deep in the joy of realized motherhood.

Between Swan Song and Carol of the Mourning Dove, I wrote another collection of poetry, Dead of Night. The poems in this collection are much longer and more like what you will find in my second two poetry books. If you want a taste of my long-form poetry Dead of Night is the free download for you!

Dead of Night delves deep into the spiritual wrestling, anguish, and triumphs of one’s faith. Candid and raw, these 17 poems form a striking word visual and a gut-honest journey woven in triumph, light, and assurance.

Now let’s chat Where Maryn Goes. This is my most recent free download even though it’s the thing I wrote before everything else I just mentioned in this post! I have offered Where Maryn Goes as a free download in the past, but removed it for awhile as I wasn’t really writing short stories or novelettes and so it didn’t match my current creative work.

But that all changed in early 2026 when I pushed through my imposter’s syndrome and wrote the story I was dying to tell.

I named the story The Heart of Hugh which is an expansion of my poem, I Learned to Love the Wind (originally found in Swan Song of a Scarecrow) posted in chapter increments on my Substack, Green Fables.

When I sat down to write the next novelette in the Green Fables series and expand Hugh’s world, Maryn returned as a character and I suddenly had good reason to share Where Maryn Goes once again.

In the Green Fables world, Maryn appears as a mysterious traveler with a dress made of flowers which has somehow withstood the salt of Ocean and the dust of earth. You can read Maryn’s backstory of her time on Ocean in Where Maryn Goes which is a complete novelette containing a powerful word picture of God’s healing in our desolate life seasons.

Where Maryn Goes now feels like a bonus story with soul-stirring lore just waiting for you. Maryn will be a recurring character in our Garden of Green Fables series (find it on Substack!) so get to know her first in Where Maryn Goes.
