It felt like the most beautiful thing the first time I watched the baby swing sway back and forth by the breeze in the garden. And I was inspired to write about the oak tree standing at the edge of my garden and that baby swing swaying from it.
I wrote a poem called I Learned to Love the Wind which is published in my second poetry book, Swan Song of a Scarecrow, but over time, it became apparent I wanted to write more about this oak tree.
There was more to the story.
It was just waiting to be told.
As I wrote more about this oak tree, the story itself took on a path all its own. Suddenly there was a depth of life to the page.
There was so much to say…
Sometimes, it feels rather daring to pursue stories from an oak tree’s POV, but there are risks worth taking, don’t you think?
