We’re Having a Baby BOY!!

The first time I thought, “huh, maybe I am having a boy” was in the first trimester when I found myself still inspired to write despite being pregnant and sick.

For my last two pregnancies (both girls), I have done just enough to keep my blog and Facebook page above water and I was never inspired to take on big writing projects.

However, my firstborn is a son and during his pregnancy I tried my hand at poetry for the first time in years and wrote my first ever poetry book, Hope Gives a Eulogy. So this time around it struck me as quite similar that I was inspired to write a fourth poetry book while being pregnant. And it was also telling that I was able to invest my time and energy on a pretty big writing project and continue writing novelettes in my Garden of Green Fables series. Unheard of in my girl pregnancies!

But, of course, that is an unreliable source of predicting gender!!

However, now that I know baby number four is a BOY, perhaps there was something to my thought process there, heheheee.

We are thrilled to say the very least.

Just a little over 20 weeks with my lil boy!💙

I cannot wait to welcome another little boy to the family. Every single child is a gift and a blessing and there are little details already threaded through this little boy’s life that make him such a profound display of God’s love, personal kindness, and blessing.

Overall, I have been feeling pretty well considering how tough my pregnancies can be. While God has allowed low-risk pregnancies every time, I have also struggled with iron deficiency most of my pregnancies and this time is easily the worst on that front. My midwife is keeping an eye on it and we are getting plenty of bloodwork done to determine the best way to replenish my iron stores. (Alongside proper diet, of course!)

As far as things to note this pregnancy? Chipoltle is my dreamy food of choice. I love orange juice. I like a honey crisp apple to snack on. You won’t find me enjoying iced coffee like I used to *sad face emoji*, but an icy-cold, thick and refreshing fruit smoothie will do the trick. I am also craving fizzy refreshers with blended fruit and club soda all mixed in. Oh my goodness… I need to stop talking about it!

There’s not much more to say right now. No poetry or flowery words…just the glorious reality... A BABY BOY! I mean that IS the news! When my son found out he was getting a baby brother, he threw himself back on the couch with a fist in the air and a hearty “YESSS!”

Me, too, kid. Me too.☺️

  1. Congratulations! I craved grapefruit with our son. I don’t even like grapefruit and haven’t eaten it since.
