baby fingers narrowly kept
from
Communion juice,
rowdy children hushed,
a mother’s look,
sit still,
she barely gets a prayer
in edgewise,
thank you, Lord, thank
you, Lord.
and in this quiet, chaotic
pew,
this mother with her children,
this broken up
worship
her Lord is truly
glorified,
and likely quite delighted
by the narrowly,
rowdy,
barely edgewise.

-S.V.F., Communion

I have been wanting to write about how a mother of little children participates in Communion for awhile now…based on true events, or course.🤭😉

It is much more loud and *seemingly* less reverent, but still the Lord is pleased with such worship and I imagine so very delighted by the playfulness, curiosity, and parenting happening in the church pew.

This photo was taken before heading to church a couple years ago now. In it, you can almost see the movement and “chaos” of this beautiful mothering season!💕
