So I wasn’t totally crazy late last year when after publishing my (third!!) poetry book I found myself writing about a dragon in my garden…

That ended up being part of a tiny little identity crash BUT I just needed to sit back for a minute and let some time pass before jumping into new ideas.
And wouldn’t ya know it?! There was some real inspiration brewing there and stories that wanted a chance to breathe.
The last half of January had me voraciously writing through a new novelette which brought to life so many stories I can’t wait to explore. My long-form storytelling has been dormant for quite awhile, and there is nothing wrong with that. I’ve honed my voice as a poet, gotten much better at my writing craft, and have pushed through + accomplished lots of self-publishing hurdles!
But it sure is nice to fall back into an older piece of me and write stories that symbolize hope and life and light. Much of this new venture is just an expansion of poems I’ve already written and published…

Poems like I Learned to Love the Wind and Legend from Swan Song of a Scarecrow or The Robin from Carol of the Mourning Dove will give you a taste of what’s to come!
Think fable meets folktale meets fiction and you’ve got the recipe for what I’ve been putting together behind the scenes. I reveal everything next week so stay tuned!👀💌 (And my garden plays a huge part, fyi!!)
So, I wasn’t crazy late last year. I just wasn’t ready.
Now I am.🍂🌻
